Performance Test Specialist
Job Description
As a PERFORMANCE TEST SPECIALIST, depending on
your abilities and interests, you could be involved in any/all of the following
areas:
- Performance
test planning: formulating an overall test strategy, master test plan
and detailed test cases for a software or Web application, often without
specs or any other type of documentation
- Performance
test implementation: creating automated performance tests for a Web,
client/server or database application using tools like Borland SilkPerformer
or HP Loadrunner.
- Performance
test execution
- Results
analysis / debugging: based on the automated performance test results,
assist in troubleshooting performance problems.
- Performance
test reporting: distilling the data generated by the automated
performance tool into a readable, “plain English” report
for the client
Work is performed in our office, at the client's site (wherever that may be),
or part in our office & part at the client's site, depending on the client's
specific needs. We do a great deal of business in New Jersey and New York, but have also
worked across the USA and in Europe. The ability and willingness to travel is
appreciated, but not strictly required.
Required Skills
- formal
performance software testing experience
- experience with Borland SilkPerformer, HP LoadRunner or other performance tools
- knowledge of structured programming techniques
- working
knowledge of Web technologies, client/server computing and databases
- working
knowledge of computer networks, networking hardware and the Internet
- strong
analytical skills
- ability
to operate independently or as part of a team
- ability
to see tasks through to completion with minimal management input
- ability
to quickly gain an understanding of a client’s business and applications
- strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- strong
interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a broad range of
personality styles and types
- extremely
strong written and verbal communication skills
- ability
to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel to prepare test plans, test reports
and other documentation
- knowledge
of SQL
- a
sense of humor and an ability to be flexible
