Test Automation Engineer
Job Description
As a SOFTWARE TEST AUTOMATION ENGINEER, depending on your abilities and
interests, you could be involved in any/all of the following areas:
- Automation planning: formulating an overall
strategy, designing the framework and functions to support automation
- Script development: developing scripts for
various applications using tools like Borland SilkTest or HP QuickTestPro.
- Script execution: setting up and executing
tests, verifying results and reporting defects
- Script maintenance: updating scripts as new
builds and new functionality is added to the application
- Mentoring: work with client so that they can
take over execution and maintenance functions
Work is performed in our office, at the client's site (wherever that may be),
or part in our office & part at the client's site, depending on the client's
specific needs. We do a great deal of business in New Jersey and New York, but
have also worked across the USA. The ability and willingness to
travel is appreciated, but not strictly required.
Required Skills
- formal software testing experience
- strong analytical skills
- 3 -5 years experience with test automation tools
- knowledge of structured programming techniques
- knowledge of relational databases and SQL
- ability to operate independently or as part of a team
- ability to see tasks through to completion without
constant management input
- ability to quickly gain an understanding of a client's
business and applications
- strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well
with a broad range of personality styles and types
- a sense of humor and an ability to be flexible
Desired Skills
- ability/willingness to travel within the tri-state
area or beyond
- management and/or project lead skills
- knowledge of software development, C/C++/Java
programming skills

satisfactory, an offer is extended
