Software Test Specialist
Job Description
As a SOFTWARE TEST SPECIALIST, depending on
your abilities and interests, you could be involved in any/all of the following
areas:
- Test planning: formulating an overall test strategy, master test plan and
detailed test cases for a software or Web application, often without specs
or any other type of documentation
- Web testing: testing websites and Web applications for functionality,
usability and browser compatibility
- Environment & compatibility testing: verifying an application works
under all required configurations (operating systems, Web browsers, backend
databases, etc.)
- Fulfillment testing: verifying a company's e-commerce operations from
end-to-end -- does your order arrive on time, was it packaged properly, are
the credit card charges and sales tax calculations correct, etc.
- Testing training: teach testing methodology, test planning, Web testing or
other types of courses to our clients
Work is performed in our office, at the client's site (wherever that may be),
or part in our office & part at the client's site, depending on the client's
specific needs. We do a great deal of business in New Jersey and New York, but have also
worked across the USA and in Europe. The ability and willingness to travel is
appreciated, but not strictly required.
Required Skills
- formal software testing experience
- strong analytical skills
- ability to operate independently or as part of a team
- ability to see tasks through to completion without constant management
input
- ability to quickly gain an understanding of a client's business and
applications, often without specifications/documentation or formal training
- strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a broad range of
personality styles and types
- extremely strong written and verbal communication skills
- ability to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel to prepare test plans, test
reports and other documentation
- a sense of humor and an ability to be flexible
Desired Skills
- ability/willingness to travel within the tri-state area or beyond
- management and/or project lead skills
- knowledge of software development, the development lifecycle
- knowledge of relational databases and SQL

satisfactory, an offer is extended
