Description

This course is designed for the user who needs to apply the object-oriented benefits of the 4Test language to:

declare new window classes
store test data within its object declaration
write new methods and verification properties
utilize advanced window declarations
test non-standard (custom) objects
develop an API for supporting custom objects
apply advanced class mapping techniques
access unseen objects using low-level events
call C DLL library files from within 4Test scripts
test Java and Visual Basic objects

Course Objectives

Enhance window declarations and associate test data directly with object declarations
Create and use user-defined classes, methods, and verification properties
Develop APIs and services for custom objects such as Grids and TreeViews
Map custom classes to known 4Test classes
Declare unseen objects by their relative or absolute location
Use secondary visual clues to assist in testing graphical custom objects
Drive applications with low-level mouse and key events
Create user-defined methods for custom objects and classes to enhance their testability
Call C functions using DLL calls
Configure Visual Basic and Java environments and hook into external code
Test Java and OLE objects by accessing their native methods and properties

NOTE: The Advanced Testing with SilkTest course includes Level 3 competency test at its completion. Upon successful completion of 3 competency tests and a Comprehensive Certification Exam, a user will be recognized as a Borland Functional Test Management Expert (FTME) .

Course Length, Format, Logistics

Course length: 4 days

Course format: lecture plus individual and group exercises completed primarily on a personal computer (PC) using Borland Software's SilkTest automation tool.

Course logistics: each attendee needs a PC with SilkTest pre-installed and configured. Each attendee will be provided with his/her own copy of the official Borland course manual and exercise set.

Location

Testware teaches this course (and all Testware courses) to groups of 3 or more individuals from the same company. Our instructors teach onsite (at or near your company's site) on a date convenient to your organization. Location options include, but are not limited to:
