Borland Verification Testing with SilkTest

Description

Work with SilkTest’s powerful 4Test scripting language for verification testing and learn how to use a variety of techniques to enhance testcase functionality. Upon completion of this course you will be able to:

plan and organize verification tests
capture application information for testing purposes
create and run tests to validate accuracy of the application under test
report test results and progress to upper management
use and create functions for easy reuse
script data-driven testcases
create data driven tests directed by data stored in testplans, files, and databases

Course Objectives

Organize and manage verification tests using the test planning tool
Create a frame file with window declarations, which serves as the central repository for information about the application under test
Apply a variety of techniques used in QA testing
Create reports to chart the testing effort
Use variables within testcases to increase reusability and maintainability
Branch test execution or repeat an operation until a condition is met within a test
Create functions to perform repeated or complex actions
Drive tests with data stored in test plans, files, and databases

NOTE: The Verification Testing with SilkTest course includes Level 1 competency test at its completion. Upon successful completion of 3 competency tests and a Comprehensive Certification Exam, a user will be recognized as a Borland Functional Test Management Expert (FTME) .

Audience, Prerequisites

QA project leaders and testers, analysts, engineers and supervisors who need to develop a working knowledge of Borland's testing methodology and recorders to test web or client-server applications. Also those who want to capitalize on the benefits of utilizing the 4Test scripting language in their tests.

To succeed fully in this course, you must be able to:

navigate a GUI environment
use a web browser
test web or GUI applications (manually)
use structured programming and scripting techniques

Course Length, Format, Logistics

Course length: 4 days

Course format: lecture plus individual and group exercises completed primarily on a personal computer (PC) using Borland Software's SilkTest automation tool.

Course logistics: each attendee needs a PC with SilkTest pre-installed and configured. Each attendee will be provided with his/her own copy of the official Borland course manual and exercise set.

Location

Testware teaches this course (and all Testware courses) to groups of 3 or more individuals from the same company. Our instructors teach onsite (at or near your company's site) on a date convenient to your organization. Location options include, but are not limited to:
